A Study on Functional and Morphologic Changes of Kidney by Adriamycin

Abstract

|
|
To investigate the functional and morphologic changes induced by long term treatment of adriamycin, the biochemical and hisbological studies of kidney were made. Thr results were as follows : 1. The BUN, creatinine, uric acid, cholesterol and triglyceride values revealed progressive increase, the degree of which was related to the total cumulative dose or duration of treatment These items were -- normal ed after stop of injection. 2. The cellular proliferation and vacuolation of glomerulus, dilatation of distal tubule, fibrosis and inflammatory reaction of interstitial tissue were increased progressively, related to the total dose or duration of treatment These findings were recovered almost, 1 month after the stop, except for inflammatory reaction and fibrosis of interstitial tissue. As above mentioned, the functional and morphologic changes of kidney by long term treatment of ADR were dose and time-dependent, were reversil --l changes after stop of administration of ADR.
